We have both the book and the video in this scholastic accepted. We recommend both. Our daughter follows along with her book as she watches her video. Goodnight Gorilla is a current day classic that everychild must absorb. It is simple enough for a 2 year passe to follow. But my child unprejudiced keeps watching it. The other videos on the collection are also fun. But it is hard to beat Kindly Night Gorilla.

This production is not an Arena di Verona type outdoor performance translocated to Beijing. It is a grandiose event on a expansive scale of the kind Mehta specializes in. As far as the staging is concerned this is a Turandot unlike any other. Thrice Oscar-nominated director Zhang Yimou has filled his grand venue with extras from the People’s Liberation Army and the Dance Academy of Beijing. The flawless video transfer boasts shiny colors that jump off the camouflage and distinct attractive images that screech the smallest details even in the panoramic wide shots that showcase the scope and grandeur of the presentation. The performances are genuine – Barbara Frittoli is a standout as Liu. The Dolby Digital 2.0 audio transfer is as genuine as can be expected given the sonic limitations of the new production. Overall, the orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta fares somewhat better than the singers, who were body miked for this open-air production. Occasionally, some voices glean lost in the mix. Examples of this include “Ah, per l’ultima Volta,” which combines all voices to bring the first act to a stop, in which the grunt of Calaf must dominate, but doesn’t, and “Fermo! Che fai? ” with the voices of the three Ministers of Position too cramped for the occasion. It is the extras included in this disc that originate this a DVD and/or opera enthusiast’s dream: 16:9 anamorphic widescreen transfer; Synopsis and subtitles in English, French Italian, German, Japanese and German; a PCM audio-only track identical to the CD release of this production coupled with a slideshow of behind-the-scene and production photos; and a 30-minute “Making of” documentary in English or German with subititles in 4 other languages. This DVD is an invaluable reference for any ballet student. Although I have been learning ballet for only 2 1/2 years as an ADULT ballet student with no ballet background at all, I now rob 8-14 classes a week (with teenage students!) and have managed to near Level 5 and even do Pointe work so I can say with the conviction of a serious ballet student that – This DVD is an Capable reference for anyone enthusiastic in learning ballet.
I would recommend the DVD version instead of the VHS because it makes for easier and quicker selection of topics (imagine having to rewind and forward on VHS!) .
If you’re thinking of getting this DVD, go for it!
The opinion of demonstrating classical ballet positions and movements on video is a trustworthy one, and the professional dancers execute ballet with an authority I cannot inquire.

Cheap Quality… I may have received a “lemon,” but my experience with this chair so far is poor. Several pieces in the box were significantly damaged (large dents and deep, long scratches in the wood, one of the cushions was separating at the seams) and I spent 20 minutes on hold with the company to get replacement parts in “maybe 15-30 days – if they have them”… As far as comfort, the chair is alright… Just remember – you get what you pay for. If you don’t mind a chair that may arrive damaged, screws that don’t line up correctly – basically a cheap product that was made in China, then this chair is for you. If you want something that is sturdy and built to last, I would look into higher end gliders made by another manufacturer (Dutalier, Best Chair, etc.).
Love this chair Only took 10-20 minutes to assemble with no trouble. I’m 6′7″ 240lbs and the chair supports my size and weight very well. I find it to be very comfortable and my wife who is 5′2″ absolutely loves it.
Does the trick I bought the glider and ottoman set mainly because it can be shipped to Hawaii for free and it was the least expensive glider I could find. It’s not as fancy as some of the other gliders out there, buts its definitely nice. It was shipped to us just fine via FedEx or UPS, I can’t remember. It only took a few days to get to us.
If you are looking for no thrills and simple design, this is a great glider.

I have seen this DVD about 30 times! After reading all the Henning Mankell Wallander mysteries, I ordered it from Amazon UK and switched my computer to State 2. Boy was it worth it. Incredible actors and crew. The high quality of the production is unmatched. Branagh won several awards for this series already, both for acting and producing. They are site to obtain three more this summer, again based on the glorious books by Henning Mankell. There are two DVDs in the box. One has prove 1 and 2 on it. The other DVD has Expose 3 and then a ton of wonderfully produced specials. These include a extraordinary and long chat between Kenneth Branagh and Henning Mankell. Mankell is jubilant with the series and you will be too!!
The Kurt Wallander novels, authored by Henning Mankell, are quite accepted in Europe but rather less well known in the US. “Wallander-Series I” brings to television and DVD the dramatization of three of the novels. Wallander, portrayed by old and gifted Irish actor Kenneth Branagh, is a detective on the police force of the gritty seaside town of Ystad in Sweden. He is a borderline physical and psychological burnout case, who has lost his sense of detachment from his cases and takes everything far too personally. At the same time, he is a brillant sleuth with an ability to produce intuitive connections between seemingly unrelated cases. Assisted by his staff and supported by a faithful daughter, he manfully plugs away at some rather unorthodox cases.
“Sidetracked” opens with a brilliantly staged scene in which Wallander fails to prevent a young woman from self-immolation in a sunlit field of flowers. He is also beset by a series of murders in the local art business, and by the health issues of his estranged father. Only Wallander can leer the connections, which lead to a deadly sex ring and a surprising killer.
“Firewall” opens with the seemingly senseless destroy of a taxi driver by two young women. As other bodies originate to pile up, Wallander picks at a unfamiliar statement by one of the two young women, who escapes from police custody and then is herself horribly murdered. Wallander’s persistance leads him to an unorthodox terrorist area, and a betrayal by a friend.

His personal suffering over each case and over a personal life seemingly in shambles, imparts a gray tone to the stories that may be unsettling to some viewers.
